Too true — now that I'm a more avid reader, I can appreciate slower books and non-fiction, which has opened up a ton of doors into worlds like The Wheel of Time and Infinite Jest, but after college when I was trying to get back into reading, I could only focus on two things: horror and comedy.
Discworld kept me engaged because of the laughs it inspired, and House of Leaves kept me turning pages because I was too anxious and afraid and engrossed. This could be an interesting deep dive.
Thanks for this!
